EVs Don’t All Affect Climate Equally

Electric cars are only as clean as the power used to charge their batteries, and how clean that is varies from country to country. Car sales around the world show more people buying EVs that emit no climate-warming CO2.

In China, however, the electricity used to charge batteries of the country’s growing number of EV’s comes largely from CO2-heavy coal, diminishing an EV’s impact on combatting the climate crisis. Driving an EV in the U.S. generates far less greenhouse gas because the power we use to change batteries is much more climate friendly. Source: The Wall Street Journal
